For this project, I created a reimagined title sequence for Close Encounters of the Third Kind, reframing the film as a contemporary, real-world documentary set in the 21st century. The goal was to translate the original film’s themes of mystery and discovery into a grounded, modern context through typography, sound design, and pacing.
The sequence focuses on building tension and atmosphere through subtle typography, documentary-inspired visual language, and sound integration. By combining these elements, the piece establishes tone while hinting at a larger narrative beyond the frame. This project strengthened my ability to use motion design as a storytelling tool and reinforced the importance of concept, pacing, and visual cohesion in time-based design.
